Christopher Severen is a Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. He earned his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2017 and his B.A. in Economics and in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009.
Severen studies urban and environmental economics, with particular interests in transportation, land use, and economic development. He has written articles on transportation and land use regulation in California, the causes and effects of automobility during formative years, and climate change valuation. His work has appeared in the Review of Economics and Statistics, the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, and the Journal of Urban Economics, among other outlets.
