Research Programs
-
Brookings Metro
Brookings Metro’s mission is to collaborate with local leaders to transform original research insights into policy and practical solutions that scale nationally, serving more communities. Strengthened by research and policy insights focused on five key initiatives—Inclusive Innovation and Talent Development, Resilient Regions, Transformative Placemaking, Valuing Black Assets, and Worker Pay and Power—our affirmative vision is one in which every community in our nation can be prosperous, just, and resilient, no matter its starting point.
-
Economic Studies
The Brookings Economic Studies program provides analysis of current and emerging economic issues to promote innovative and practical policy solutions. Economic Studies scholars conduct rigorous research and policy analysis and communicate their findings to inform policymakers and the public in the areas of broad-based economic growth, economic opportunity and mobility, inclusive social policy, sound monetary and fiscal policy, and climate-resilient growth.
-
Foreign Policy
The Foreign Policy program at Brookings is the leading center of policy-relevant scholarship exploring the major challenges to international peace and security posed by rapidly re-ordering geopolitics of major powers; the disordering relations among states and transnational actors; and changing dynamics in defense, technology, energy, and climate. Our scholars engage in in-depth, nonpartisan research and analysis aimed at advancing solutions to the toughest problems by providing concrete policy recommendations.
-
Global Economy and Development
Founded in 2006, the Global Economy and Development program at Brookings aims to shape the policy debate on how to improve global economic cooperation and fight global poverty and sources of social stress. With a long-term vision of strong, sustainable, and balanced growth for a prosperous world, the program undertakes high-quality research, identifies target audiences and policy opportunities, and shares its findings to inform new policy solutions.
-
Governance Studies
The Governance Studies program at Brookings is dedicated to analyzing policy issues, political institutions and processes, and contemporary governance challenges. Our scholarship identifies areas in need of reform and proposes specific solutions with the goals of: improving the performance of the national government; informing debate; and providing policymakers with expert analysis and ideas to ensure better institutional governance.
