The Forum for Cooperation on Artificial Intelligence (FCAI), a collaboration between the Brookings Institution and the Centre for European Policy Studies, hosts regular AI dialogues among high-level officials from seven governments (Australia, Canada, EU, Japan, Singapore, UK and the US) as well as experts from industry, civil society, and academia, aimed at identifying opportunities for international cooperation on AI regulation, standards, and research and development. Many of the ideas and policy recommendations from the dialogues are reflected in FCAI reports and blogs.

  • Cameron F. Kerry

    Cameron F. Kerry is the first Ann R. and Andrew H. Tisch Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Governance Studies and the Center for Technology Innovation at Brookings Institution and visiting scholar with the MIT Media Lab. As General Counsel and Acting Secretary of the United States Department of Commerce, he led development of domestic consumer privacy policy and interactions with trading partners on the flow of information and technology across international borders data.

  • Joshua P. Meltzer

    Dr. Joshua Meltzer is a Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution. He works on international economic relations with a focus on the intersection of digital technology and international trade and investment. He was an expert witness in the Schrems II litigation in Europe on data flows and privacy and a consultant to the World Bank on trade and privacy matters, as well as the G20 and APEC on data governance issues. He is also a member of the Australian government’s National Data Advisory Council. Meltzer also teaches digital trade law at the University of Melbourne and has taught digital trade law as an adjunct professor at the University of Toronto, McGill University and taught an ecommerce course for the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office diplomatic academy.

  • Andrea Renda

    Andrea Renda is a Senior Research Fellow at CEPS in Brussels (Belgium), and a Professor of Digital Policy at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy). An expert in the regulation of emerging technologies with a multi-disciplinary background, Andrea was a member of the EU High Level Expert Group on AI and is now the Co-Chair of the working group on Tools and Accountability of the OECD Network of AI Experts.

  • Aaron Tielemans

    Aaron Tielemans is the Senior Project Coordinator for the FCAI and Research Assistant to Dr. Joshua Meltzer. He is responsible for facilitating the Forum’s AI Dialogue roundtables, overseeing publication processes, and coordinating with the Forum’s stakeholders. He conducts research on AI as it pertains to domestic policy initiatives, international cooperation, and global trade.
