Kerry Searle Grannis

Vice President, Institutional Affairs

As the vice president for institutional affairs, Kerry leads a wide range of organizational strategy and development initiatives at Brookings, and oversees campus operations, facilities, and security. Her work touches on all areas of business and research operations, with a common thread of building better systems and strengthening organizational culture to support the Institution’s impact.

Kerry joined Brookings in 2011 and has held a number of roles at the Institution. After starting as a project manager for the Center on Children and Families, she helped establish the Hutchins Center on Fiscal and Monetary Policy in 2014, and the Center on Regulation and Markets in 2017. She also managed operations and directed outreach, communications, and development strategies for both centers. As managing director for the Economic Studies program, she directed staff engagement and staff development efforts, and provided leadership and management support across the program.

Prior to her work at Brookings, Kerry taught literature and composition at the George Washington University and Northern Virginia Community College and served as the executive director of the Falls Church Homeless Shelter. She holds a Ph.D. in American Literature from the George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in English from Binghamton University (SUNY). Kerry and her spouse are the proud parents of three teenagers.
